The National Judicial Institute’s (NJI) Board of Governors, under the chairmanship of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Tanko Muhammad, has appointed Justice Salisu Garba as the new administrator.
He takes over from Justice Rosaline Bozimo (rtd) whose tenure ended on July 31, 2021.
A statement by the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the CJN, Ahuraka Yusuf Isah, said the appointment, which took effect from August 1, is for a period of three years.
Until his new appointment, Garba was Chief Judge (CJ) of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, a post he voluntarily resigned to take the fresh offer.
Born on October 10, 1956, the Malumfashi Local Council of Katsina State-born jurist was inaugurated FCT CJ on June 7, 2021, and would have quit by October 10 this year when he would have attained the mandatory retirement age of 65 years.
The new NJI helmsman was called to Bar in 1984.
He went into private legal practice for three years after completing his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program in 1985.
Justice Garba was appointed magistrate in the FCT in 1989 and also served as the Chief Registrar of the FCT High Court until he was appointed a judge of the FCT High Court in 1998.
